BLUE WAS THE READER , BLUE — BLUE BUNDLE
From the world of Gentlemen Prefer Silence: The Intimate Diary of All That’s Left Unsaid:
For the Reader who has everything.
Or, more accurately, for the writer whose Reader has been captured by Somali pirates.
Three objects from the blue world of GPS:
EULOGY FOR THE READER — CANDLE
Light it, clasp your heart, then mourn appropriately. Death by silence is the worst kind of death. No one has died, and yet you must bury them. Now you have a candle.
LOOK AGAIN — BLUE
A journal for reconsiderations, revisions, and everything you probably should have said—or, better yet, kept to yourself. In any case, it’s a journal. Journal away to your heart’s desire.
DRINK MY WORDS — BLUE
Because reading them was apparently not enough.
Light the candle. Open the journal. Pour something into the mug.
There. The Reader is practically back.
Well, no. But you do have a candle, a journal, and a mug.
Darling, grief is a process. Apparently, it's also a bundle. And may I say, it's not a bundle of joy. It’s a bundle you handle with dignity. And resentment. But also dignity—that’s important.
